Video game adaptations in film and television are currently at an all-time high. It's clear that these types of projects are highly profitable, so it's no surprise that more and more companies want to bring their franchises to another multimedia medium. Could Crash Bandicoot be next on the list?
Undoubtedly, in the 1990s, there were three mascots that dominated the video game industry: Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros., and Crash Bandicoot. The first two have already made the leap to the big screen with great success, so it's not unreasonable to think that the marsupial will try to do the same with a movie.
At least that's what Toys for Bob, the studio responsible for the latest Crash Bandicoot video games, thinks. They recently openly expressed their desire for the anthropomorphic animal to have his own film adaptation, following the good reception of The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

The developer studio tagged Sony Pictures Animation in their Twitter post, suggesting that they are interested in that studio taking on a hypothetical animated film adaptation of the character. This is particularly curious when we remember that the franchise is owned by Activision, which is currently in the process of being acquired by Microsoft.
In any case, fans expressed their excitement and believe that bringing the character to the big screen is a good idea. In their post, Toys for Bob shared the introductory scene of Crash Team Rumble, the franchise's new multiplayer game. Therefore, the community can get a small idea of what an animated movie could look like.
We'll have to wait to find out if Crash Bandicoot will make it to the cinemas. In the meantime, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is an unprecedented success and is already set to surpass an important box office milestone. On the other hand, the Sonic the Hedgehog prequel series starring Knuckles will begin production very soon.
With the plumber boy’s incredible cinematic run, we think it’s time for Crash’s theatrical debut! What say you, @SonyAnimation? https://t.co/Kq6S4v6Uui pic.twitter.com/DZlFjSZyPa
