Xbox is preparing a series of changes to its interface, as users have expressed dissatisfaction with its current state. In a blog post, Ivy Krislov, Senior Product Manager for Xbox Experiences, confirmed that they are working on an updated and refreshed experience for the Xbox Series X|S home screen.
Last year, Microsoft began testing a new home screen interface for Xbox, but many fans were unimpressed by the cluttered interface that did nothing to showcase the dynamic backgrounds available on the console. Many criticized the interface, saying it started to feel like a giant ad for Xbox Game Pass, and Microsoft has now acknowledged that it felt a bit crowded.
"We've heard from you that the top changes to Home left not enough space to enjoy your background art and that it felt crowded," Krislov said in the blog post. "We're working to balance the experience, accessibility, function, and needs of our community and bring them a cool and refreshed Home experience."
Microsoft is removing the new Xbox home screen interface for Insider program members and halting the experiment to prepare for more significant changes that are on the way. Krislov said that the Xbox team will share more details about the new Xbox home screen interface soon.
"Thanks for all the feedback you've shared. It's a crucial part of our process, and our team is working hard to incorporate it into the experience and make it available for you to use," Krislov said.
Undoubtedly, it will be exciting for fans to see Microsoft responding to criticism and feedback from fans about this part of the Xbox home screen. Microsoft has redesigned the Xbox dashboard many times over the past decade, sometimes successfully and other times not. So it's good that the company isn't resting on its laurels and continues to devote resources to making the community feel comfortable with their console.
