He did it again! Phil Spencer hid another hint to the future of Xbox hardware on his shelf

Could this be a sign that important news is coming soon?

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, is known for several things. From saving the company after the disastrous launch of the Xbox One, to loving video games like few others. Another thing he's known for is hiding clues about future Xbox projects on his shelf, and he's done it again.

This morning, Xbox released a video announcing that PC Game Pass will be available in more regions. As part of the video, we can see Phil Spencer thanking the community for all the support they've given their services since their launch.

Seeing Spencer in front of his shelf, fans knew what they had to do: grab a magnifying glass. In doing so, they delved deep into what the Xbox executive was keeping there. In doing so, they discovered that, indeed, Phil Spencer did it again.

What can be seen on the shelf this time is a new Xbox hardware that has not yet been revealed, though it's not the first time we've seen it. It's called Keystone, a hardware designed for Xbox Cloud Gaming and to offer cloud gaming on any TV with an HDMI screen.

As you can see, Keystone is white like an Xbox Series S, but it's also much smaller. The Xbox logo can also be seen, as well as a USB port that is surely intended for charging devices.

Keep in mind that Keystone is only a prototype and may never hit the market, or at least not in this form. Recently, a company spokesperson acknowledged the existence of this device, stating that they had to rethink it in order to offer it at a competitive price.

"As part of any technical journey, we are constantly evaluating our efforts, reviewing our learnings, and ensuring that we are delivering value to our customers. We have made the decision to abandon the current iteration of the Keystone device. We will take our learnings and refocus our efforts on a new approach that will allow us to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to more players around the world in the future," the spokesperson said.

What do you think, should Xbox release a cloud device? Let us know in the comments.
