Will there be movies crossovers between Marvel and DC? It's possible, but don't get too excited.

Superhero movies are still extremely popular, and it seems like these kinds of productions won't stop coming in the coming years. While Marvel and DC Comics have followed separate paths all this time, will there be a day when we see characters from both companies interacting in a film? It's possible, but fans should temper their expectations.

In a recent interview with Empire Magazine (via IGN), James Gunn, filmmaker and current head of DC Studios, talked about the possibility of a crossover between the two companies in movies. Specifically, he explained that it's not a far-fetched idea, but suggested that it still looks distant. In short, fans should wait patiently.

"I'm sure that's more likely now that I'm in charge [of DC]. Who knows? But it's still many years away. I think we have to establish what we are doing in DC first. I'd be lying if I said we hadn't talked about it, but all the conversations have been very, very casual and fun," the creative highlighted.

If anyone can make a crossover between Marvel and DC, it's definitely James Gunn. We must remember that he is one of the few directors who works in both companies. He is not only responsible for the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, but also directed the acclaimed The Suicide Squad and is currently the head of the new DC Comics cinematic universe.

Regarding the future, James Gunn is now working on launching his 10-year plan for DC Comics. The first project of this new stage is expected to be a Superman movie. There will also be productions based in Batman, Swamp Thing, Supergirl, and more.

It's difficult to know what the plot of a crossover movie would be. We must remember that the superheroes from both companies have interacted in comics and other products, so writers and directors could draw inspiration from those stories. Anyway, a collaboration in movies looks very, very distant.
