Redfall's New Gameplay Disappointed Fans, but the Game Isn't the Main Culprit

Fans question recent decision by Arkane Studios

Redfall is one of the highly anticipated games from Bethesda, and with its release just around the corner, promotional efforts should be in full swing. However, a recent gameplay video release has disappointed many fans, and surprisingly, it's not entirely the game's fault.

Arkane Studios recently shared Redfall's latest gameplay footage with IGN, showcasing one of the game's toughest vampire variants, the Rook. Unfortunately, the demo didn't sit well with the nearly 80,000 viewers. As of writing, it has garnered over 4,400 dislikes compared to just 1,016 likes, according to DualShockers.

So why did Redfall's new gameplay disappoint fans?

The game's combat gameplay is not entirely at fault, but the players themselves. In the combat session against the Rook, there were too many cuts in the middle of the fight, and the combat starts inexplicably in a house. Additionally, the player made some questionable decisions during the gameplay, like leaving the team in the middle of the fight to go to another section of the map, a garage, to search for loot fruitlessly, while their teammates were disabled. Once in the garage, the player pulls out a rifle to fight the Rook, making the gameplay less engaging to watch.

The reaction from most viewers is that it was more of a player error rather than a game issue. However, some players also criticized the game itself, stating that it looks more like a "free-to-play" game or an Alpha version. This kind of reaction from players could negatively affect the game's image, especially since the game's concept has not entirely impressed players. This is concerning since the game is set to release in just a few weeks.

It's not the first time players have had negative reactions to a game's original gameplay presentation. Sonic Frontiers faced similar negative feedback when its gameplay footage was first presented, but luckily, the game received a positive response when players got their hands on it. The same could happen with Redfall.

Redfall is set to debut on May 2, 2023, on Xbox Series X|S and PC. You can find more related news about the game by visiting this page.
