Super Mario Bros. The Movie just arrived and already has its first major controversy

Grant Kirkhope is not happy with a detail of the Illumination and Nintendo film

Today is a very important day for Nintendo fans as Super Mario Bros. The Movie has finally been released. However, this moment has already been overshadowed by the film's first major controversy after its debut. This is because Grant Kirkhope, a celebrated composer in the industry, is not at all happy with a detail of the production.

For some time now, it has been confirmed that the DK Rap is part of the highly anticipated film. In case you didn't know, Kirkhope composed the popular song in 1999 for Donkey Kong 64. Despite this, the musician does not appear in the credits of the movie. This disappointed him quite a bit, so he spoke about the situation on his social media.

Kirkhope had the opportunity to see Super Mario Bros. The Movie recently and was very excited as he expected to see his name in the credits of the film due to the DK Rap. However, he left the screening disappointed because he did not receive the recognition he undoubtedly deserved.

"Well, that's very depressing. I was really looking forward to seeing my name in the DK Rap credits, but unfortunately, as expected, it's not there," wrote the musician on social media.

According to Eurogamer, Kirkhope does not appear in the credits of the movie, as it only mentions that the DK Rap is part of Donkey Kong 64. The problem is that other compositions are credited in the film, with their composers and even their performers.

For this reason, Kirkhope is disappointed that his work from years ago on such a popular composition was not recognized. As of writing this, neither Illumination nor Nintendo has commented on the matter. Kirkhope has little hope that the situation will change, so some of his fans have shown him their support on social media.
