Resident Evil hasn't had the best of luck with live-action adaptations; however, it has fared a bit better with all the animated productions it has received over the years. It will soon have another of them and it is Resident Evil: Death Island, a film that recently released its first trailer.
Resident Evil: Death Island will be a sequel to Resident Evil: Vendetta, a film that debuted in 2017 and was considered a success. In this tape, Leon S. Kennedy begins a new mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from kidnappers, but a mysterious woman ruins his plans. On his part, Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak whose cause remains a mystery.
In the first preview of Resident Evil: Death Island, we see Leon and Chris preparing to face this new and dangerous threat. There is also a shot that confirms that Jill Valentine will be present in this story and with her appearance from the Resident Evil 3 remake.

If you're wondering, Resident Evil: Death Island is directed by Eiichiro Hasumi, best known for his work on Assassination Classroom. For his part, the script is the responsibility of Makoto Fukami, who worked on Psycho-Pass.
Resident Evil: Death Island is expected to have global distribution in the summer of 2023, thanks to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
