Among Us: Innersloth saved from facing a lawsuit in 2020

We all remember that at a certain point during 2020 Among Us became a very popular game thanks to the visibility it got from some content creators who decided to try this title. It's been almost 3 years, and its distinctive characters can still be found both on social networks and in videos based on some of its many memes.

On this occasion, the developers of the game InnerSloth shared via Twitter a curious fact about a small in-game detail that if not changed could have gotten a lawsuit for violating the Geneva Conventions Act.

AMONG US WAS SAVED FROM A POSSIBLE LAWSUIT

InnerSloth revealed that the cross that can be seen on MedBay was initially red, but had to change it to blue when Among Us' popularity exploded. The reason? Using the original design meant violating the Geneva Conventions Act.

In case you don't know, this law regulates important aspects of international humanitarian law and the protection of victims in armed conflicts. It states that the red cross symbol is to be used only to identify personnel working in that institution.

Thus, its use is only authorized by the International Committee of the Red Cross and is prohibited for other purposes. For this reason, the crosses seen in MedBay were modified and have been blue for quite some time. This change was made precisely in 2020.

It may have been a big surprise for the InnerSloth team to have their game gain so much popularity so unexpectedly, and that little color change added to the cross may have been a very smart move at the time as we don't know what kind of difficulties the team would have gone through in the case of getting a hard-to-win lawsuit.
