One of the games that have generated the most hype during the last few months is The Day Before, a promising MMO that has gradually fallen to the liking of players. Fntastic planned to release its long-awaited title on March 1; however, there was a radical and unexpected change of plans.
This morning, the studio confirmed a delay of 9 months, so now it will arrive on November 10. The community is disappointed and angry for several reasons: the explanation given by the studio and the sudden disappearance of the game on Steam.
Fntastic claimed that they forgot to register the name of the title and that someone else already has the rights. So they need time to fix this problem. Players questioned the statements and the launch of the game to such an extent that they are already comparing it to Abandoned.
WHY WAS THE DAY BEFORE DELAYED?
Fntastic explained that the name The Day Before was available when the title was announced in January 2021. However, someone outside the project applied to register that trademark in the United States. The problem is that the studio allegedly only became aware of this last week.
"Right before the release, Steam blocked our game at the request of a private individual, because of the name The Day Before (:...) Now we found out all the circumstances of the incident and will definitely solve everything.
We previously planned to post a lengthy gameplay video later this month, but we'll have to sort this issue out first. We will post a video asap.," the studio stated.
Fntastic explained that the project is still active and that they are working to deliver the best possible results. As for the gameplay, he pointed out that they will first consult with their lawyers as they do not want to affect the name dispute. He also took the opportunity to apologize to gamers, as he knows the news is disappointing. Despite this, much of the community showed their anger and lashed out at the studio and the project.

For the gameplay video, we will consult with lawyers first, and then we can publish it.

THE DAY BEFORE IS THE NEW ABANDONED
For weeks now, the community has been suspicious of Fntastic and everything related to The Day Before. The inordinate hype has gradually dropped due to the lack of announcements and, above all, the fact that the studio keeps dragging its feet on releasing the gameplay of the game.
Now many gamers believe that the project as such does not exist and that it is a scam. For that reason, many compare it to Abandoned, a PS5 title that disappeared from nowhere after several scandals and rumors. Several people accused the members of Fntastic of deceiving the community with false promises and promoting certain platforms for their benefit. There are even theories already claiming that Fntastic and BLUE BOX Game Studios are run by the same people.
At the time of this writing, it is uncertain what will happen with The Day Before. However, the community is losing more and more interest in it.
The first thing you do, when making any product or brand... is make sure nobody else has your name or the copyright to it!

I mean seriously? So you're saying it took you a whole year before filing for the trademark? I smell cap...
Please don't give them money... https://t.co/iYSwUBqjFf pic.twitter.com/DF3QYYbYub
Me learning that the #2 most wishlisted game on Steam is being built entirely by volunteers, has shown little to no real gameplay footage, and just a month before launch delayed the game by 8 months for trademark issues: https://t.co/jE69dFGNr1 pic.twitter.com/E0BGL6PuHM

TDB delayed for the 98th time. This game is never coming out is it lol. Who tf announces, develops and plans to release a game without even trademarking the game’s name https://t.co/eRdflp7TB8 pic.twitter.com/hdBsvCZSBH

I think the only way The Day Before could look any more suspicious right now would be if they renamed it to Abandoned, or announced it was being published by Intellivision. https://t.co/6oUA9zcdeg

Let's summarize:
— Elca (@Elca_Gaming) January 25, 2023
-Several Early Access Games abandoned
-Used The Day Before Hype to promote Prop Night and a Platform that wasn't tagged as sponsored but is owned by you
-Literally copying entire areas from other games
-scripted Gameplay
-TLoU Font
-Not aware of Trademarks(?)
In case you missed it: Overwatch 2's "harassment simulator" is back; players are outraged
This news was not taken in the best way by the whole fan community, many feel sadness for waiting much longer for this title while others are just suspicious of the number of delays and the fact that it has taken so long to notice this demand. It is expected that there will be even more repercussions if the game is delayed again, and we will see this in 9 months.
