According to some leaks, Microsoft will hold an Xbox Developer Direct on January 25, a showcase featuring games such as Forza Motorsport, Redfall, and Minecraft Legends, while Starfield appears absent. Is there any cause for concern? Probably not.
Windows Central's Jez Corden was the first to talk about this event and unveil the games lineup, revealing that Starfield will not be present at the showcase, the journalist, however, is evident on the matter, and according to him, Bethesda's game will be featured in an in-depth "Deep Dive" in the following weeks, probably closer to launch.
Players are not happy about this
However, the news of Starfield's absence from the Xbox event in January quickly heated tempers, and many people flocked to Reddit and social networks concerned about the health of the Bethesda game. Some fear a postponement, and others speculate on the publisher's willingness to launch Starfield by surprise, a sort of "Shadow Drop" as happened with Halo Infinite's multiplayer, for example.
However, various insiders, including Benji-Sales, say they are confident about Starfield's launch and do not see a problem in its possible absence at the Xbox showcase. For example, Benji-Sales speculates a late June launch, so it may still be too early to get the marketing machine in motion, presumably starting in the spring.
In case you missed it: Xbox and Oreo team up for a Europe-only event.
In short, Microsoft and Bethesda probably want to promote Starfield in the best way possible and not with a few-minute trailer released during a medium-sized digital event, so we need to remain patient for the time being.
