Not even J.K Rowling's controversies can stop it

Everybody wants to play Hogwarts Legacy not only Potterheads. Are we surprised? No, not really, the things we have seen so far about this game are what most people have been waiting for from a Harry Potter game.

However, no one saw this coming… the game is now #1 on the Amazon Best Selling video games list and is not even out yet. To be fair this one was really unexpected considering the ongoing controversy surrounding British author J.K. Rowling.

Actually, this has unleashed an endless debate among fans about whether it is ethical to buy a game that will, of course, financially support the writer of the original Harry Potter books. A section of the community is already planning a boycott, others don’t want to affect developers and the team that worked on the game.

In case you missed it: Hogwarts Legacy: PlayStation users will receive more benefits with the game

Controversy or not Hogwarts Legacy is shaping up to be one of this year's most successful releases at least in the US and UK where it has held the #1 spot for two consecutive days and counting…

The game set in the magical universe of Harry Potter ranks above recent hits such as Sonic Frontiers, FIFA 23, ELDEN RING and Dead Space remake.

On the other hand, the Xbox X Series X|S version is ranked #4 in the U.S. and is beaten by high-profile titles like Forza Horizon 5 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. Naturally, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports; and the Switch version are further down, which is to be expected considering those versions were delayed a few weeks ago.

Did you know?: The developers of Hogwarts Legacy answer an important question: will there be Quidditch?

Are you planning to buy the game? Remember that Hogwarts Legacy arrives next February 10 for PlayStation 5, Xbox X Series X|S and PC, while the PS4 and Xbox One versions will arrive on April 4, and Nintendo Switch users will have to wait until July 25.
