Xbox has been going through a rough patch with the Activision-Blizzard-King acquisition,(actually, if you want to know everything about it you can click here) Nonetheless not everything is sad, at least for the CEO of Microsoft Gaming and head of the Xbox brand, the one and only Phil Spencer.
According to an Exputer article based on a NeoGaf post, the head of Xbox had an award-filled year having won most of the major industry awards in 2022.

Personal achievements are important!
Spencer seems to have accumulated 4 major industry awards and if you think that 4 are not “too many” you should be aware that these are far more than the ones received by the competition equals.
These awards recognized his leadership skills and the revolution he brought about with his ideas, I mean… these skills were the ones that granted him his promotion to CEO of Microsoft Gaming.
Now, you must be wondering which awards we are talking about, here they are:
- Lifetime Achievement Award - 25th DICE Awards 2022
- Bloomberg 50
- Andrew Yoon Legend Award “Legend Award” - New York Game Awards
- Distinguished Achievement in Industry - Diamond Awards 2022
Phil won the Lifetime Achievement Award thanks to his “passion and leadership throughout his entire career at Microsoft,” and for “pivotal initiatives that have reverberated throughout the entire gaming industry.”
Spencer was part of Bloomberg 50, which recognizes people who defined global business in 2022 in business, politics, science and technology, finance and entertainment. Why? Well he just negotiated the biggest deal in company and video game history with the $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
At the beginning of the year, Spencer received the Andrew Yoon Legend Award during the New York Game Awards ceremony where they celebrated his “phenomenal contributions” to the video game industry, also they didn’t miss the chance to call him "the exact sort of person you want as an executive of a gaming company.”
Last but not least, Phil was honoured with the Distinguished Achievement in Industry, which should not surprise you as he is an alumnus of the UW Department of Human-Centered Design & Engineering.
