Without a doubt, one of the most original and fun video games that the independent scene left us in 2022 is Cult of the Lamb. A somewhat creepy proposal but softened to the point of looking cute thanks to its artistic style, an unparalleled experience created by Massive Monster and published by Devolver Digital.
Despite being single-player, this indie has a pretty cool integration with Twitch, allowing fans to join the cult of their favorite streamer through a kind of in-game lottery. A great idea from the developers that for sure helped to increase its popularity.

Controlling a virtual cult never felt better
As recently revealed by the developer team through Twitter, the game's free major content update will arrive in 2023. And yes: it seems to have enough news and improvements to be worthy of a "Major update."
One of the first novelties this update will bring is heavy attacks. To take advantage of this new and more powerful offensive, we will only have to press the attack button, and that's it: we will execute a heavy attack depending on the weapon we have equipped at that moment.

New attacks aside, Massive Monster says it will implement improvements in four different areas: depth, difficulty, accessibility, and quality of life. For now not specific in any of the areas, but just knowing they are working on them seems promising.
Additionally, the studio promises that more features that players have requested since the game's release in June last year will be added.
"But first, we have another round of fixes scheduled for the new year. It is focused on resolving many issues for console players. After that, we will be working on releasing the Major Content Update as soon as we can!"

"Start your own cult in a land of false prophets, venturing out into diverse and mysterious regions to build a loyal community of woodland worshippers and spread your Word to become the one true cult.
BUILD YOUR FLOCK: Collect and use resources to build new structures, perform dark rituals to appease the gods, and give sermons to reinforce the faith of your flock.
DESTROY THE NON-BELIEVERS: Explore a sprawling, randomly generated world, fight off hordes of enemies and defeat rival cult leaders in order to absorb their power and assert your cult's dominance.
SPREAD YOUR WORD: Train your flock and embark on a quest to explore and discover the secrets of five mysterious regions. Cleanse the non-believers, spread enlightenment and perform mystical rituals on the journey to become the mighty lamb god."
Cult of the Lamb is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
