For different reasons, it is common for companies to stop releasing games from some of their less popular franchises. Perhaps, that could be one of the main reasons that motivate them not to continue investing time, money, and effort in them: not having as many fans compared to their best-selling series.

In the case of Nintendo, one of the IPs we have known nothing about for the longest time is F-Zero. Yes, we've seen Captain Falcon and elements of the series appear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but people want the franchise back. And it seems that finally, after almost two decades, we will have it this year.

F-Zero for Nintendo Switch, are you serious?

According to insider NateTheHate, known for having hit some of his leaks, he is the one who has commented that we will see an F-Zero game released on Nintendo as soon as this year.

In the same way, he mentions that it will be a remaster of one of the hardest installments of the series: the fan-favorite F-Zero GX for GameCube. If the only option to bring the futuristic racing back was with a remaster, the chosen game seems to be the right one.

If you did not remember or did not know, F-Zero GX was launched in 2003, developed by Amusement Vision, and published by Nintendo for the GameCube console. This game has a "brother" in the form of an arcade counterpart named F-Zero AX, which uses the Triforce arcade system board conceived from a business alliance between Nintendo, Namco, and Sega.

Here is a trailer of the game:

Similarly, the insider talked about one of the longest-rumored games for Nintendo Switch: the original Metroid Prime. In this regard, this is what he said:

“As for Metroid Prime 1… Retro completed development of the game in late summer of 2021 (for clarity: development finished then — it still had to go through QA, any localization, and such). The game has been finished for some time now. Nintendo just opted to wait to announce and bring it to market, for whatever reason.”

Returning to F-Zero, and keeping in mind we are talking about a rumor and nothing more than that, what do you think? Are you excited that this year could mark the return of the franchise?? And how about Metroid Prime? Tell us what you think in the comment box below.
