TikTok banned on every US federal device

Better not to take risks

Remember when the FBI said that TikTok is a threat to National Security? Well, you may have thought that it sounded funny but they were serious and now the Chinese video app is being banned from all U.S. House of Representatives-managed devices.

If you are a little bit lost, don’t worry, we got you. According to the House's Chief Administrative Officer, the app is considered "high risk due to a number of security issues," and it should be deleted from all devices managed by the House with no exceptions.

Did you know?: Turns out TikTok ads can get you viral success on mobile gaming

Spy vs Spy?

As you may know, TikTok is owned by Beijing-based ByteDance Ltd and this is a reason for the House Homeland Security Committee to believe that China’s ruling Communist Party could use the video app to push influence through TikTok’s powerful recommendation algorithm and collect user data or controlling software for espionage purposes.

So far over 19 states have partially blocked the app from all their state-managed devices, and according to Reuters a spokesperson for the Chief Administrative Officer has made it very clear that the staff is already warned, so anyone with TikTok on their device would be contacted about removing it, and future downloads of the app are strictly prohibited… Sorry Janet, no more TikToks during lunch time.
