Companies are always looking for ways to attract our attention to convince us to buy their products. With the fast food industry being very competitive, companies must create ads that stand out from their rivals.
With this in mind, McDonald's sought a unique collaboration to create something original. They turned to a manga artist to make their new commercial, obtaining an incredible result. A must-see for fans of Japanese animation. Of course, It wouldn't hurt anyone to take a look at it.

A pretty interesting crossover
The manga illustrator chosen for this ad is none other than Tetsuo Hara, famous for his work on the legendary manga of the 1980s, Fist of the North Start.
Tetsuo designed the characters for McDonald's Japan's new Samurai Mac burger. This new ad premiered this week and has 15 and 60-second versions.

In this commercial, Samurai Kai, Harada's character, acknowledges the difficulties of making decisions as an adult. Despite this, we see him scale a cliff to finally declare, "But I'm going to do it anyway!". In the end, we see him jump to get his hands on the desired burger.

What is Fist of the North Star?
Returning to the animated commercials, it is worth mentioning that they commemorate the 40th anniversary of Fist of the North Star, whose original run was in charge of Buronson and Tetsuo Hara in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1983 to 1988. The series has sold a total of over a 100 million copies, making it one of the best-selling manga series in history.
The plot of the manga goes as follows:
"In the year 19XX, after being betrayed and left for dead, bravehearted warrior Kenshirou wanders a post-apocalyptic wasteland on a quest to track down his rival, Shin, who has kidnapped his beloved fiancée Yuria. During his journey, Kenshirou makes use of his deadly fighting form, Hokuto Shinken, to defend the helpless from bloodthirsty ravagers. It isn't long before his exploits begin to attract the attention of greater enemies, like warlords and rival martial artists, and Keshirou finds himself involved with more than he originally bargained for.
Faced with ever-increasing odds, the successor of Hokuto Shinken is forced to put his skills to the test in an effort to take back what he cares for most. And as these new challenges present themselves and the battle against injustice intensifies, namely his conflict with Shin and the rest of the Nanto Seiken school of martial arts, Kenshirou is gradually transformed into the savior of an irradiated and violent world."

The manga was adapted into two anime television series produced by Toei Animation. which together aired on Fuji TV and its affiliates from 1984 through 1988, comprising a combined total of 152 episodes.
Berserk (Kentaro Miura), JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Hirohiko Araki) are probably the two most popular anime influenced by this manga. In video games, Double Dragon's art style and overall setting are in part influenced by the series.
