Afterimage, created by the indie development team Aurogon Shanghai, is coming in approximately four months from now after its successfully funded Kickstarter campaign that reached a total of 622% of the goal on April 22, 2022. It will be available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

What do we know about this indie title?

Game developers describe Afterimage as a "beautiful, hand-drawn 2D Metroidvania adventure title with RPG elements that challenge players to explore the massive and mysterious world of Engardin. Traverse treacherous environments, defeat challenging bosses, and uncover the secrets holding Engardin and its magical inhabitants together"

It all started as a prototype made back in 2019, the development team made several changes to the art style and in the end, decided to continue with the late 2020 "Spine" demo that looks like the early stages of Afterimage.

So much was the support given for this promising title that 100% of the Kickstarter campaign was funded within 48 hours, and after that, the project got over 2,500 backers, funded over 90,000 US dollars in a month. And the game developer stepped in to give a thank you message for reaching a tremendous goal

You might think that the game will only be available through the digital stores of each platform, nonetheless, it was said that they plan on releasing physical copies as confirmed by the developers themselves when replying to a fan over a trailer video.

It was stated that "a physical release is planned for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch and will launch the same day as digital." And, as we already know, its official release date is April 25, 2023, so you know when you will play it.

In case you missed it: The ESRB has already rated Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom!
