Back in June 2022, PlayStation shared the announced trailer of Resident Evil Village VR Mode via YouTube. And today, December 15, we finally have the official release date.

This additional mode will release on February 22, 2023, as a free DLC. In order to download this DLC you must have Resident Evil Village or Resident Evil Village Gold Edition.

What does VR Mode bring to the game?

Kanda, the Capcom producer behind Resident Evil Village, explains the features that make VR mode an immersive experience while putting you in the shoes of Ethan Winters. "Visually, the vivid graphics of the 4K HDR display (2000×2040 per eye) and eye tracking produces a heightened perception of reality as if everything you see is actually there."

But that's not everything, Kanda also adds that "3D audio enhances the realism with audio from every angle, and your sense of touch is enhanced via the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers. With one controller in each hand, you can feel the vibration, recoil, and resistance as you interact with objects in the world and fire weapons."

In case you were thinking that this mode will be limited to experiencing a portion of the game's story, fortunately, that won't be the case.

Kanda has confirmed that Ethan's adventure in the Village will be experienced in its entirety in VR mode. You'll be able to play in Ethan Winters' shoes from start to finish just like you probably did before, and this time it will be scarier.

In case you missed it: It's official! Marvel's Spider-Man 2 already has a release window, when will it debut?

Resident Evil Village was very well received by the community. And if you had the opportunity to play it in its entirety and got scared on some occasions, you might get even more terrified once you experience it with the PlayStation VR2.
