Hogwarts Legacy is delayed on PS4 and Xbox One; already has a date on Switch

For all those wizard lovers who are eager to play the new Hogwarts Legacy title, we are sorry to spoil the illusion that at least PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users will have to wait a little longer to play it.

The title was originally going to debut on February 10, 2023, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and PC. Fortunately, this date is maintained for current-generation consoles and PC. This means the game will be first coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users will have to wait a little longer, as the title will now be released on April 4 on those consoles. For its part, the Switch version will take even longer to arrive, as it will debut on July 25. Below is the summary with the new dates:

PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC: February 10 (early access available from February 7)
PS4 and Xbox One: April 4
Nintendo Switch: July 25

WHY WAS HOGWARTS LEGACY DELAYED ON LAST GENERATION CONSOLES?

The developers explained they need additional time to offer the best Hogwarts Legacy experience on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. With this, they made it clear that the version of the game for last-generation consoles still needs more work to debut in optimal conditions.

Various titles have suffered in recent months for being intergenerational releases. Surely Avalanche Software wants to avoid any controversy related to the subject, so they asked for extra time to polish the game to the maximum.

As for the Switch version, it is evident that the team also requires time to make the necessary adjustments and take advantage of the potential and hybrid nature of the Nintendo console.
