Fortnite Battle Royale started its Chapter 4 Season 1 today, December 4, and many huge changes were added to the game. The primary change is that it is now powered by Unreal Engine 5, and the visual quality has increased.
Making such improvements led to a drawback for the ones playing in Windows 7 and Windows 8. Starting Season 2, these will officially no longer be supported in Fortnite.
What was said about this issue?
The Fortnite team shared a news article that goes in-depth about the in-game visual modifications that Unreal Engine 5 features bring to the title. It was stated that:
"Starting with Battle Royale Chapter 4 Season 2, players will be required to use Windows 10 or higher in order to continue playing Fortnite natively on PC in an officially supported manner. Windows 7 and 8 will become officially unsupported in Fortnite."
What is the alternative solution?
It is said that this will happen in older operating systems as there is a "growing risk of security threats." And the development of new features and content into the game is already demanding for them to make the necessary adjustments for legacy operating systems on time.
However, there is only one solution "for players unable to upgrade," and it is NVIDIA GeForce NOW. "It's an available alternative so you can continue playing Fortnite on your current Windows 7 or Windows 8 PC in an officially supported manner."

The game will attract many new users with the implementation of changes and improvements this season, but we don't know how many will be affected by the time Season 2 arrives. This announcement seems like a call to action for those who need to update their operating systems and continue getting the Victory Royale they strive for.
