Oh no! The Callisto Protocol’s PC version is full of performance issues

The real nightmare is running the game... but there is a solution!

The Callisto Protocol was released yesterday and so far the reception has been favourable talking about the console version however, the game is plagued with performance issues which affect mainly the PC one. Actually, the game has received an avalanche of mostly negative reviews on Steam.

Almost every specialized portal has described it as a “stuttering nightmare” and probably you may be wondering how can this is possible for a brand new game, well, apparently the issue is rooted in the game settings. Every player complains about the game’s inability to run correctly even with the recommended settings.

In case you missed it: The Callisto Protocol: several players want to request a refund for this reason

Imagine if you have less than that

We will leave you the recommended specs below:

Now, people are getting a sloppy 12fps game even with these settings, fortunately, this has a solution. According to a helpful article from Kotaku, there is a way to run the game, if you are willing to make some fidelity sacrifices.

It is worth noting that developers have promised that they will release further optimization patches so, don’t worry about this game being a lost cause, seems like they are already working on it.

Back to the “solution” what you need to do is the following:

  • Go to the main menu.
  • Select options, then graphics.
  • At the bottom of the graphics menu, you will find “Run Benchmark” (this will stress-test the game against your PC).
  • This will give you a set of “recommended adjustments”.
  • Go back to options > graphics and the advanced and change the options suggested after the benchmark.

For example in the original article, the test recommended the author to enable the FSR2 Performance mode, after changing it in the advanced section from Temporal to AMD FSR 2 and then changing the next setting, FSR 2 Quality Mode, down from Quality to Performance the game magically ran at 60fps.

Hopefully, this could help you out, have you already played The Callisto Protocol? Share your opinions in the comments below.
