The awaited title coming next week continues to give us more hype. Striking Distance Studios, developer of The Callisto Protocol, provides us with insights behind the scenes of the place located below the Black Iron Prison, which is named Below. Moreover, there is information regarding the storytelling experience and character design of the monsters.

What has the game studio shared?

Here we have a short video that showcases the dark environment that Below has, by clicking in here you will be able to see it. "Below is an incredible showcase of our lighting and gave our environment team a fun challenge to design a unique location that was still thematically similar to the Prison above, and offered environmental clues to its creation and the original Callisto colony."

We also have some words regarding the relationship between the protagonist, Jacob Lee, and his jailer, Captain Leon Ferris. “In developing Leon we often described him as the ‘dark mirror’ of Jacob,” says Lieb. “Thematically both begin in a similar place, either oblivious about (or willingly blind to) the consequences of their actions.”

We can also see some of the references used for the uniform design. They surely were very careful with every small detail even for their characteristic clothing.

We also have a closer look at some of the monsters that we are going to face and probably run away from. The following is the Rusher. An enemy that walks on walls, sprints, and leaps at players. “[Rushers] have this contortionist, crooked sort of motion with twisted joints and limbs,” says Longhi.
