Unexpected! Splinter Cell is getting a BBC Radio 4 adaptation

With an impressive cast

Every video streaming platform wants its very own videogame series adaptation, only this year we got Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners from Netflix, Halo from Paramount and the upcoming HBO adaptation of the Last of Us; everyone wants their slice of that sweet videogame money.

As the title says, we never thought that the next one was Ubisoft's Splinter Cell series as BBC Radio 4 is working on a radio drama which will start next Friday, December 2.

In case you didn’t know: Ubisoft reveals Splinter Cell remake's early concept art on the series' 20th anniversary

The adaptation’s official name is Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Firewall and will follow Sam Fisher on a new mission where he needs to recruit and train the next generation of operatives for the National Security Agency's covert action division. This radio novel will be divided into an eight-part series dramatised by Sebastian Baczkiewicz and Paul Cornell.

The official description reads: “When a lethal assassin from Fisher's past returns from the dead on a mission of murder, he is thrust into a race against time as a sinister threat to global security is revealed.”

A cast to die for

According to the official BBC statement, the iconic character of Sam Fisher will be played by Andonis Anthony (The Archers). The role of his daughter Sarah, who teams up with her dad on his latest secret missions, is played by Daisy Head, who won the Best Debut Performance Award in the BBC Audio Drama Awards in 2019 and last but not least, the rest of the cast will feature Rosalie Craig, Sacha Dhawan and Nikesh Patel, as well Will Poulter (The Maze Runner; We’re The Millers) on his first foray into radio.

Remember, Splinter Cell: Firewall will broadcast on Fridays on Radio 4 from 2 December at 2:15 pm. All episodes will go live as a boxset on BBC Sounds in the Limelight podcast feed on 2 December.
