The date for The Game Awards 2022, scheduled for the evening of next Thursday, December 8, 2022, is approaching, and the first rumours about the event's possible schedule are popping up.

From the pages of Insider Gaming, the infamous Tom Henderson reveals that the show may be set to host new details about Final Fantasy XVI.

Are we getting a release date soon?

Indeed, according to mysterious insider sources, it seems that pre-orders for the JRPG are set to become operational right from December 7 or 8, 2022, a circumstance that, if confirmed, could imply an appearance of the game on the stage of The Game Awards 2022.

In particular, the possible announcement of pre-orders opening seems to suggest an imminent announcement of Final Fantasy XVI's currently unknown release date. In fact, for the time being, Square Enix has limited itself to confirm that the game will become available during the summer of 2023.

At launch, Final Fantasy XVI will be a temporal exclusive for PS5. The agreement between Sony and the Japanese publisher includes a six-month exclusivity period, after which the adventure may land on other platforms.

What is certain is that the launch of the long-awaited JRPG will be preceded by the release of a free Demo of Final Fantasy XVI, which will allow players to get an idea of the features of the Square Enix title.
