Most of us enjoy the Cooking Mama franchise, at least that we can’t cook for our lives. However, it was a surprise when back in earlier 2020 it was known that the latest issue of the franchise Cooking Mama: Cookstar for Nintendo Switch was an unauthorised release.
According to the court information, the publisher Planet Entertainment released the title without Office Create Corp the IP’s owner's consent. Apparently, Office Create claimed Planet Entertainment refused to correct a "wide range of deficiencies affecting the overall feel, quality and content of the game" during development, despite being contractually obligated to do so.

Of course, they never fixed a thing and released the game either way
As expected things escalated and both companies ended up in a huge lawsuit which seems to have been settled in October but was confirmed a couple of days ago via Office Create Website. The court has ruled in Office Create Corp favour and now we are not going to see Cooking Mama: Cookstar again.
The statement confirms that Planet Entertainment and its CEO Mr. Grossman were not authorized to release the Cooking Mama: Cookstar Switch and PS4 games in 2020 and 2021 respectively and for now the license agreement had been validly terminated.
Now Office Create is undertaking all necessary steps to ensure that the infringing video game title either digital or physical copies are removed from the market.
“We thank our customers and loyal Cooking Mama fans for their continued support and sincerely regret any confusion and disappointment that has been caused by Planet’s and Mr. Grossman’s conduct.”
A happy ending for Office Create, however, a little bit of a bitter one for the Switch players who will have to wait a little bit more to make cute dishes with Mama again.
