A few days ago, the Xbox gamer community showed their sadness on social media due to the delay of the Starfield game because if it had not been delayed, they would already have had the opportunity to play it.

We know that Starfield was going to make one of the biggest releases on Xbox by the end of the year, but those responsible for the title delayed it to 2023. Despite the criticism and disappointment that many players received, one person strongly defends this decision, and that person is Phil Spencer.

Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, believes that the study did the right thing; this was revealed in a recent interview with The Verge. The manager spoke about this move and explained that he does not consider the decision to delay Starfield to be negative and that even though postponing the game had a financial impact, it was necessary to do so.

Spencer noted that it's important to all of us to give developers freedom and confidence when talking about release dates. So they decided to avoid pressure and postpone the release of the games to next year. This way, studios can create the experiences they have dreamed of and deliver quality products.

“We have experience shipping games too early, but in hindsight, when you look at a game like Starfield, which has taken so much time and so much investment in a new IP by the team, the decision to give the team the time to build the game they think they should be building is just the right thing to do.

On the other hand, Spencer revealed that he wasn't surprised when he learned that Bethesda and Arkane needed more time to wrap up developments. He emphasized that the important thing for him is that the teams feel "owners of their destiny with their games" because, in this way, "they perform better."

Starfield is coming to Xbox consoles and PC sometime in 2023.
