The team at Microsoft had long anticipated a desire to expand the Gears of War brand, with the IP being used beyond the confines of the video game world alone.
Just a few months later, and after many rumours, fans of the green-crowned series can now celebrate the official announcement of an animated series and film inspired by Gears of War. Both productions will find asylum in Netflix's catalog, with the company increasingly active on the front of cinematic transpositions of video game IPs.

Who is playing the iconic Marcus Fenix?
At the moment, not much information is available about the feature film dedicated to Gears of War. Still, the creator of the video game series already has very clear ideas about the actor who should play the role of Marcus Fenix. In fact, in a brief tweet, Cliff Bleszinski wished for Dave Bautista's involvement in the film project.
A pairing that would apparently be incredibly pleasing to the actor himself, who had previously stated that he would like to voice Marcus Fenix in an eventual feature film inspired by Gears of War. Bleszinski also said he wants a Latino actor to play Dom in the movie.
Oh and yes, Bautista as Marcus please - and a Latino actor for Dom, dammit.

At the moment, however, there is no official confirmation regarding the cast of the Netflix movie. While waiting to learn more, fans can still enjoy Dave Bautista's cameo in Gears 5 as a playable character.
