Ok, downloading games shouldn't be that complex, but seems like for Sony's players it is. In its latest weekly blog post Bungie added an interesting PSA asking PlayStation 5 players to stop downloading the wrong version of the game.
Yes, you read that one right, apparently several PS5 players were not playing the next-gen port, but were stuck playing the older, slower PS4 version of Destiny 2, so no, Bungie wasn’t lazy porting the game… you downloaded the wrong one.

In other platforms like Xbox and PC you usually don’t run upon this problem as the device automatically downloads the version of your console. Unfortunately on PlayStation, you have to dive on the store to install the correct version or sometimes install the first version and then update it to transfer your progress and access the improvement in framerates and graphics overall.

This upgrade has no additional cost, but be aware that for any other games it may require a purchase, and may be available for a limited time.
Now, there are two scenarios, do you own a physical or a digital copy of the game?
In case is physical, first, you will need a PS5 console with a disc drive. Sign in to your existing account, insert the PS4 disc, go to the game hub for the PS4 game, select the upgrade offer on the game hub and download. It is worth noting that you will need to keep the disc inserted each time to play the game.
On the other hand, upgrading the digital version is fairly easier. Just need to sign in to your account on your PS5, find the PS5 game in PlayStation Store, select the upgrade offer and download it. Remember PS4 games redeemed as a PlayStation Plus benefit are not eligible for a PS5 upgrade.
