We are getting closer to the release date of the long-awaited game, Sonic Frontiers, which is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2022. And if you have been keeping an eye on what has been being talked about in the fan community of the Sonic game, you're sure to know that gamers have been comparing the upcoming Sonic game a lot to Nintendo's popular title, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

That's right, there are many users who claim that the Sonic title took many inspirations from the Zelda title, especially for its open world and landscapes. But, will there really be similarities between both titles? That question has decided to answer the current boss of the Sonic Team, Takashi Lizuka.

In a recent interview with the medium SamaGame (via TheGamer), Takashi lizuka, the current head of Sonic Team, spoke about various topics related to the next release and at some point in the conversation, he decided to address the issue that fans were talking about so much.

For this, what the Japanese stated was that the only thing that both titles share in similarity is freedom on the map:

"From the development [team's] perspective, they're going out and making an action game. So when they think about Breath of the Wild, they see Breath of the Wild definitely as a role-playing game, and it's not similar at all to the action game that they're making... There is the same element of freedom that has been applied to Breath of the Wild as a role-playing game, and they're taking the linear high-speed action Sonic game and implementing freedom into there."

In addition, he commented that many members of the Sonic Team are fans of the Nintendo installment, but that they are making a game of a different genre than Zelda.

"But when we think about, 'is it an open world game? Is it similar to Breath of the Wild?', a lot of people on the team love the Zelda series, they love Breath of the Wild, they've played it, but to them, they don't really see a similarity between the games."

As you can see, the Sonic Frontiers game will offer a very different experience from what we have already seen from the Zelda game, so it will only be a matter of waiting for its release date to enjoy it.

Sonic Frontiers will be available on November 8 for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
