Yes, it's true! James Gunn to lead DC Studios

Along with producer Peter Safran on Warner Bros-Discovery's new division

Let’s be honest for a moment here, the merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery has had us furious and somewhat discouraged, however, seems like among all the disaster there are good news regarding the long-time rumoured strategy of placing DC Comics and its franchises as the main attraction of this new plan.

A couple of hours ago, an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Warner Bros. Discovery has finally cleared the air about what will happen with DC and its projects. The result? The DC Studios division is going be led by James Gunn, director of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, and producer Peter Safran, who are now co-presidents, co-directors and responsible for ongoing and planned projects.

In case you missed it: What's going on with HBO Max?

YES, you read that right!

According to the information, both will report to David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery. In the case of James Gunn, he will be responsible for the entire creative area, while Peter Safran will do the same but from a business and production perspective. At the same time, both will have executive roles and responsibilities.

It's rumoured that the initial agreement is for 4 years and will make Gunn and Zaslav exclusive talents of Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios.

David Zaslav has already pronounced himself saying; “DC has among the most entertaining, powerful, and iconic characters in the world and I am thrilled to have the singular and complementary talents of James and Peter joining our world-class team and overseeing the creative direction of the storied DC Universe.”

James Gunn has also confirmed the news via Twitter:

Also, in case you were wondering, it has been reported that this decision will not have an impact or connection with the production of Joker: Folie à Deux by Todd Phillips; however, anything produced after this film based on Batman’s villain will be part of this new phase.

We can’t wait to see what the future holds for DC and the Gunn and Zaslav team. Are you excited about this news or the company is doomed? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
