When it was released in April 2020, Resident Evil 3 remake generated some discontent not only for an overall length that was deemed unsatisfactory but also for cutting several parts of the original game. Critics and audiences were not entirely convinced by the work done, deeming it inferior to Resident Evil 2 remake.

Capcom seems to have treasured the feedback it received with the remake of the third chapter and, as a result, promises that the same mistakes will not be made with Resident Evil 4. Speaking to the microphones of PC Gamer, producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi assures that the Resident Evil 4 remake will have a duration in line with the 2005 opus and therefore will not be a shorter experience.

Resident Evil 4 will not be a short-length game

''When we started production on RE4, we looked into what people thought was good [in the RE2 and RE3 remakes and what could've been done better," Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the Game Producer said. "One example is the play time for RE4 is about the same as the original game.''

This statement does not deny that RE4 remake may have more or less significant changes to its content than what we have seen in the past. Some of these are already evident in the first gameplay video of Resident Evil 4 remake, which expands on the whole early stage of the original classic while at the same time remaining faithful to some of its most iconic locations.

The remake of Resident Evil 4 will be released on March 24, 2023. It is now available for pre-order on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. If users purchase the PS4 version of the game, they can upgrade to the PS5 version for free. The game is also being developed on the PSVR2, which has yet to be released.
