The change of Bayonetta's voice actress in Bayonetta 3 has caused great controversy among the community for several days. It all started with Hellena Taylor, the original dubbing actress for the witch, who decided to talk about the reason for her absence in the new installment.

Shortly after, Jennifer Hale, the new voice actress for Bayonetta, decided to express her feelings about what Hellena said, turning the situation into a snowball that very quickly began to grow, dividing the community.

PlatinumGames finally speaks

After some time of silence, PlatinumGames finally decided to share an official press release through their social media accounts. Below we share the company's position on this controversy:

"We at PlatinumGames offer our sincerest appreciation to everyone who has contributed to creating the Bayonetta series over the years, as well as the community that has served as its foundation.

We give our full support to Jennifer Hale as the new Bayonetta, and align with everything in her statement.

We ask people to please refrain from any further comments that would disrespect Jennifer or any of the other contributors to the series."

Naturally, PlatinumGames has decided to show its full support for the new voice actress in charge of bringing the beloved witch to life. However, the studio has also encouraged the community to stop issuing disrespectful comments to anyone who collaborated during the series' history.

In case you missed: Not one, but TWO Bayonetta 3 trailers have arrived!

Here is an overview of the game via Nintendo:

Bayonetta struts through multiple locations in an all-new, over-the-top climax action game. Sporting a wicked new ensemble and somehow familiar pigtails, the titular Umbra Witch must face a mysterious evil using her signature guns and time-slowing Witch Time ability. This time, invading manmade bioweapons called Homunculi find themselves in Bayonetta’s crosshairs.

Published by Nintendo and developed by PlatinumGames under the direction of Yusuke Miyata, Bayonetta 3 will be available exclusively on Nintendo Switch on October 28, 2022.
