Modder makes Street Fighter 6 Closed Beta work offline

Capcom wasn’t happy with this AT ALL

So far Street Fighter 6 is one of the most anticipated video games of next year and the Closed Beta held from October 7 to 10 only increased fans' hype; as in those days, fans had the opportunity to participate in online duels, polish their skills in training mode and fight against a friend in local mode; and let's say that people didn’t want to stop playing it.

Taking into account that its release date remains a mystery, a good part of the community wanted to keep the Beta test alive and a modder managed to make this test period permanent.

All good things come to an end, right?

The mod was released on October 14 and naturally, went viral thanks to Reddit. Of course, it wasn't perfect, since in order to use it, it was necessary to have previous access to the Beta which to be fair not a lot of us had the privilege of.

Of course, this was taken advantage of by the players who enjoyed playing for longer than planned. Sadly, Capcom wasn’t happy with this when they noticed.

Oops…

As we were saying, this situation did not go unnoticed by the Japanese company, which took drastic measures to fix the problem. According to reports, today an official “update” for the Street Fighter 6 trial period removed the executable file from users' hard drives.

We all know that without the .exe file is impossible to play even if the mod is installed, so there it ends the players extended play time. Of course, we should not be surprised as playing the Beta beyond the set time limits violates its Terms and Conditions.

So, fans will have to be patient and wait until another official Beta opens its doors or, in the worst-case scenario, the title hits stores sometime next year. Hopefully, Capcom is not too mad to punish us that way… right?

Remember, Street Fighter 6 will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2023. You can click here to read everything related to the Capcom title.
