Konami's interest in NFT and new technologies is growing. The historic Japanese company is increasingly directing its strategies and resources in that direction and beginning to plan big projects for the future.
Through a press release (where you can also apply for the job), Konami reveals that it is seeking a wide range of talent for system construction and service development to provide new experiences such as WEB3 and Metaverse."
The home of Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, and Castlevania also has plans to create a full-fledged platform that allows for the exchange of NFTs between users. "We have been conducting research and development to incorporate the latest technology into games and contents, and plan to launch a service where players can trade their in-game NFTs (digital items) through a unique distribution platform using blockchain," the statement continues.
For Konami, NFTs "can be used in-game as items, as well as participate in fan communities and events, and interact with other services and communities to further expand the user experience." It is unclear at the moment when the new service will become active, but after all, Konami has made it clear for some time now that it will continue to sell NFTs to "preserve content that is so beloved by gamers."
Meanwhile, last September, the company announced Suikoden I & II HD Remaster during the Tokyo Game Show 2022: the return of the popular JRPG series is scheduled for 2023.
