Square Enix is closing Final Fantasy 7’s battle royale

The mobile battle royale is being shut down.

Although the announcement of the third season of Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier dates back only to June, the news is now coming in that the free game is coming to an end.

Square Enix confirmed that it has decided to discontinue the experiment. Less than a year after the free-to-play launch, the battle royale set in Midgar is therefore preparing to lay down its arms and close its doors. The process, moreover, will be rather quick.

As of this moment, players of Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier will no longer be able to purchase Shinra Credits within the title, and starting November 1, 2022, support for language adaptations of the adventure will cease, and the adventure will be able to be enjoyed exclusively in English.

The final shutdown of the servers is scheduled for January 11, 2023. Until that date, Square Enix promises to continue making available dedicated updates to Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier.

On November 17, 2021, the game received its official release on the App Store and Google Play. It was announced as a part of the new wave of classic RPG-related projects following the success of the Final Fantasy VII Remake. It is set 30 years before the events of Final Fantasy VII and puts us in the middle of combat between aspirant Soldiers.
