Xbox Game Pass revenue reached almost $3 billion last fiscal year

This figure represents 18% of the total Xbox revenue and 30% of Microsoft’s games revenue

After Microsoft's recent buyout of Activision Blizzard, an initial insight into its revenue generated by Xbox Game Pass came out. It turns out that Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), which approved the buyout, shortly after released a public document including valuable information on the gaming industry.

According to Eurogamer, the revenue generated through Xbox Game Pass was $2.9bn in the fiscal period ending January 2021. Compared with Microsoft's yearly Xbox revenue ($16.28bn), Game Pass represents 18 percent. On the other hand, this number also makes up 30 percent of its games and services revenue ($12.581) for the same period.

The last official statement from Microsoft was that the subscription service reported over 25 million subscribers in January this year. However, it had 18 million in January 2021, when revenue was at $2.9bn.

Remember that this $2.9bn exclusively come from console subscriptions; it doesn't include PC Game Pass. Also, the info on this revenue is unclear about discounted game sales through Game Pass, microtransactions, Game Pass Ultimate, and in-game DLC sales through Game Pass. Are these elements taken into consideration in the final figure? Who knows.
Hopefully, more details will surface on this information soon.
