Despite being in development for quite some time, the remake of the iconic System Shock has never had a definite release date, and Night Dive Studios has remained silent on the matter. However, a hint about the game's possible release date has surfaced on Steam.
The System Shock's Steam page has set a March 2023 release date: there are no more precise details as to when the work will be available, but it would already be a more accurate indication than the uncertainty that has surrounded the production thus far. All of this, of course, assumes that there are no errors in the Steam database; otherwise, we await official confirmation from Night Dive Studios.
The most recent trailer for System Shock dates back to Gamescom 2022, and on that occasion precisely no release date was revealed. But with development going on for some time, it cannot be ruled out that the bulk of it is now ready and that the authors are working on tweaks and refinements to best prepare for the game's launch next year.
''System Shock is the fully-fledged remake of the groundbreaking original from 1994, combining cult gameplay with all-new HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled interface, and all-new sounds & music; it even has the original voice actor of SHODAN, one of gaming’s most iconic villains,'' the official description reads.
