Bayonetta's voice actress changed for Bayonetta 3!

Hellena Taylor will not come back as The witch of Umbra

The rumours about a possible change for Bayonetta’s voice have been circulating for a while after some fans noticed that the voice in the trailer didn’t match Hellena Taylor’s voice. Sadly today PlatinumGames finally confirmed that Taylor the English voice actress of Bayonetta will not come back for Bayonetta 3.

Ok, but now what?

Yusuke Miyata, director of the project, confirmed in an interview with Game Informer that due to "various circumstances that piled up" it was complicated for Hellena Taylor to return to play Bayonetta in the new instalment. However, the studio held auditions to find the new voice of Bayonetta and the actress who got the role was Jennifer Hale, as the studio felt she "fit the character well.”

If you are not familiar with Jennifer's work, well… you should know her! She is known as the voice of Ashe (Overwatch), Rivet (Ratchet & Clank), Commander Shepard (Mass Effect) and Samus Aran (Metroid).

On the other hand, although for many it may mean a minimal change, the truth is that it is something important for the true fans of the series, as it is the first time that Hellena Taylor will not give her voice to the Witch of Umbra, because until now she has been in charge of interpreting her in all the games in which she has appeared and even in the animated film Bayonetta: Bloody Fate.

Naturally, fans are not so very happy with this change, however PlatinumGames is pretty sure that fans will like Hale’s interpretation as this is an actress with a lot of experience in voice acting and dubbing.

"I understand the concerns some fans have about the voice change at this point in the series, but Jennifer's performance was far beyond what we could have imagined. I'm confident that her interpretation of Bayonetta will exceed the expectations of our fans.”
