In addition to Sony's investments in PC and mobile, the Japanese conglomerate appears to be interested in potential new collaborations with FromSoftware that could even extend beyond the gaming sector.

Speaking to Reuters' microphones, PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst reveals that Sony's investments in the developer could pave the way for additional projects made in close collaboration with FromSoftware, thus broadening the horizons of the PlayStation brand.

It was confirmed at the end of August that Sony had purchased new shares from From Software, giving the company a 14.1 percent stake in the developer of Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and Sekiro Shadows Die Twice, to name a few.

"You should think of collaborations on the game development side first and foremost, but it's also not unthinkable with our PlayStation Productions efforts that we explore opportunities," Hulst tells Reuters, hinting that From Software could also be involved in film or TV projects based on its IPs one day, in addition to obviously considering new games made exclusively for PS5.

It's difficult to imagine what the two companies could accomplish together in the future, but the possibilities range from acquiring the beloved Bloodborne IP to creating something completely new.
