Phasmophobia devs underfire after being accused of "housing a sex pest” admin on its Discord

The pressure on social networks worked as the accused has already been removed

Things don’t go terribly wrong inside game studios, apparently in their very own communities too or at least that is what seems to happen recently to Phasmophobia devs after being accused of covering an admin on its official discord server for harassment and racism.

Kinetic Games was accused of housing a “sex pest by Twitter user @CrownedCoIIider with a thread that was still updated as of yesterday, October 1. There he explained that although he had not been the victim, a friend of his was and was still dealing with the fallout of it all.

He asked people to stop playing Phasmophia as the devs refused to take any claims against the admin called Charcoal Salamander. Apparently, the admin in question shared nudes without permission and made racist comments on the server for which @CrownedColider provided proof:

After this, a group of users tried to bring attention to this on the official SubReddit and the Discord server, however, they ended up banned or their posts completely scrubbed off from both platforms.

What did the devs say?

Things took a terrible turn when @CrownedColider, shared a CJ, Lead Artist for Phasmophobia message where he seemed to dismiss the allegations calling it “2 lads having a normal convo taken out of context.”

Of course, the pressure grew and eventually, Charcoal Salamander was demoted and banned from the discord server. However, things didn’t stop there, users start sharing emails and directs messages of reports made since June and how well they knew this was happening.

Completely mishandled…

In the end, the Phasmophobia team shared a statement explaining everything that went down and offering an apology for the mishandling of the situation.

CJ also shared a statement apologizing for his poor choice of words and noted that he will not let a situation like this happen again in the future.

Sadly for the studio their community is not happy with these statements as they keep sharing more proof of how some dev members enabled predatory behaviour. Truly a terrible moment for any community.
