Overwatch 2 is just a week away and today Blizzard posted a new blog entry with all the details about the upcoming game. Apparently, the studio plans to implement an introductory process named the ‘First Time User Experience’ (FTUE), which to be fair has been used in video games for decades now.
Blizzard noted that the FTUE was created to gradually ease players into the game, as part of the feedback received from the original Overwatch where players used to feel overwhelmed by the number of modes and features.
Keep playing
Now, if you want to own all the original heroes you need to play 100 matches to unlock them, on the other hand, features like in-game chat and the game’s competitive mode will be locked until new players win 50 Quick Play matches.
“This focused experience eases new players into the world of Overwatch by teaching them about different modes, rules, and other high-level aspects of the game in an approachable way,”
In case you want to play with friends, don’t worry, most FTUE restrictions will be lifted so you can have fun with your group in any of the game modes. Of course, Competitive mode is the exception to the rule as players need to complete a specific challenge to access this game mode.
Ok, but what about new heroes?
In the case of new content, specifically heroes, Blizzard explained that the game will have seasonal updates every nine weeks and a battle pass with new content like heroes, game modes, maps and cosmetics; so when the season features a new hero, they will unlock immediately on the premium battle pass track and for everyone else at Tier 55 on the free track of the battle pass.
