The studio is going through a rough patch with its community

Respawn Entertainment responsible for Apex Legends and Titanfall is not going through a good time as the levels of toxicity of certain players against the video game company have reached unbearable levels or at least that is what their latest statement suggests.

The studio through its official Twitter account pointed out the hostile attitude of some players of Apex Legends and noted that harassment and threats have escalated against its developers.

In this regard, the document mentions: "we have detected an increase in harassment against members of our development team. We welcome feedback from the community, however, the line between constructive criticism and harassment of our developers must not be crossed. We remind our players that we have a zero tolerance policy for threats and harassment against our developers. We will take concrete actions to protect the health and safety of our team.”

Of course, this didn’t sit well with players as the responses in some comments were still aggressive. A great part of these comments blamed it on the studio's mismanagement of the game and how the community means nothing to them as they don’t listen to its feedback. On the other hand, some others acknowledge that threats and harassment are not solutions, however, the majority are completely angry.

This harassment campaign started after the Apex Legends community (or some of its members) were upset about the absence of 120 frames per second mode, the lack of cross-progression to advance regardless of platform and other improvements that according to their perspective, should be in Battle Royale these days.

It seems that Respawn's statement is the first warning and surely other actions will be taken in case the attacks don’t stop. In that sense, it is worth remembering that Bungie “fixed” this by limiting communications with its public after hostility escalated to worrying levels with developers.

Is Respawn going to do the same? Is there another way to stop harassment? We would love to read your opinion in the comments below.
