Who is Lil Nas X, and why is he now the President of League of Legends?

The worldwide queer icon is now the head of the widely popular PC game

A few days ago, the League of Legends Twitter account posted a confusing yet funny announcement involving queer icon and hip-hop star Lil Nas X.

Lil Nas X would now be the president of League of Legends, and many couldn’t believe what was going on. And what’s more, he was announcing his new role with an upcoming song for the famous PC game. According to the announcement, Lil Nas X is now "responsible for creating explosive musical moments, an ingenious League champion skin, and a spectacular live Worlds performance for the 180+ million monthly players and fans in the League universe."

After the tweet became viral and confusing for many, it became clearer that the artist mentioned above had just organized a stunt marketing strategy to announce he would have a Prestige skin for the new champion, K'Sante the Pride of Nazumah (set to release in November).

Also, Lil Nas X will provide the Worlds anthem this year, STAR WALKIN', and debut it on September 23rd ahead of the League of Legends World Championship starting on September 29th. He will also perform at the Worlds Opening Ceremony in San Francisco on Saturday, November 5th.
