Kiriko, the new Overwatch 2 hero coming to the game

Here's an overvew of the upcoming healer

During the Tokyo Game Show 2022, Blizzard finally revealed more official details about two of its biggest new features for Overwatch 2: a new character, Kiriko, and a new map set in Portugal.

Kiriko is the newest Overwatch 2 Support character. Despite being a Support character, she seemed rather aggressive in her reveal video.

Kiriko was raised in Kanezaka by her mother and grandmother, who have an ancestral bond with the local shrine, which explains her bond with the fox. Kiriko learned the responsibilities of caring for the shrine, as well as the value of traditions, rituals, and her community, from her grandmother.

Her mother, on the other hand, is a skilled ninja, which helps to explain how Kiriko is the link between these two sensibilities, tradition and modernity, fighting and healing. Another interesting fact is that she grew up with Hanzo and Genji because her mother trained the Shimada.

She has a passive ability typical of ninjas (like Genji), which is the ability to climb walls. In addition, Kiriko has as many skills that show a perfect mix between strategy, aggression, and support:

  • Suzu of Protection: upon impact, allies in the area affected by Kiriko's secondary ability become invulnerable for a short time and are healed from negative effects.
  • Kunai: this throwing projectile deals critical damage.
  • Quick-Step: teleports directly to an ally, even through walls.
  • Healing Ofuda: Channels a burst of healing talismans that seek out the target allies.
  • Kitsune Rush: summons a fox spirit that rushes forward, and accelerates the movement, attack speed, and cooldowns of allies who follow the path it creates.

The new map, which is located in Portugal, is another new feature. The new location includes a lovely town reminiscent of Portuguese villages, complete with a pastry shop (as they call bakeries in Portugal).

The reveal video shows a trail, which will surely serve for payload, as well as points of interest for healing and even towers that we wonder if will serve as ambush sites for snipers, for example.
