There will also be a reward for those who have already bought the title

EA has decided to surprise the entire Simmers community, and it is that, through a statement, they have revealed that Beginning on October 18, 2022, The Sims 4 will be free-to-play on PC (via EA or Steam), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.

In case you don't know, The Sims 4 was released in 2014. Since then, the game has had millions of active players due to continuous updates, maintenance, and content packs that make the gaming experience even more enjoyable.

It should be noted that the only free-to-play will be the base game; that is, this does not include additional content packs. If you are familiar with The Sims franchise, you will know that what is included in the base game is quite basic, so it is almost essential to have content packs to add entertainment to the title, so deciding to make it free-to-play was the best option.

EA Play and EA Play Pro members will receive an upgraded experience when member-only bundles of The Sims 4 go into The Play List on October 18. The Sims 4 EA Play Edition includes The Sims 4 Get To Work Expansion Pack, while the EA Play Pro Edition includes both The Sims 4 Get To Work Expansion Pack and The Sims 4 Toddler Stuff Pack.

On the other hand, what about all those simmers who did pay for the base game long ago? Well, although it may not be the best reward from EA, the company will give away the Desert Luxe Kit as a gift kit, allowing you to put a modern oasis in your home. So if you already had this additional content, it's a shame, and if not, it will be time to claim from the main menu since it will only be available from September 14 to October 7.
