The next entry in the Yakuza saga is now officially Like a Dragon 8!

A new trailer and info have been revealed

The new Yakuza installment, Like a Dragon 8, will be a direct sequel to the 2020 video game Yakuza: Like a Dragon.SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio released the first trailer during the RGG showcase, revealing that there will be two main characters for the first time—Kiryu Kazuma and Ichiban Kasuga.

Like a Dragon 8 will be the franchise's largest and most ambitious video game, and it will be released on consoles and PC in 2024. The RGG showcase took place today and revealed multiple Yakuza titles.

RGG Studio began work on the eighth installment of the Yakuza series a few months after the release of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and work is progressing very well, according to the studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama, with the main voice actors having already begun recording some dialogue.

Because one of the main themes of Like a Dragon 8 will be the passing of the baton and "the difference between the past and the future," the studio has decided to bring back Kiryu Kazuma, the protagonist of the first six chapters, who will team up with Ichiban Kasuga, the protagonist of the seventh chapter, in this new adventure.

For the time being, no further plot details have been revealed by the studio, but we do know that Kiryu has decided to change his style to a new silver hair and that at least part of Ichiban's team will be back in action, as the first images of Nanba and Adachi have been revealed.

Like a Dragon 8 will arrive in 2024 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. The game will return to its RPG roots.
