As we all know, video games are a luxury hobby, and their price is expected to rise in the coming years as more and more publishers decide to raise the costs of their major titles, according to Ubisoft's CEO Yves Guillemot via Axios.
Ubisoft, like Sony and other video game publishers, has finally decided to set a standard price of $70 for its biggest triple-A titles that will be released in the coming years.
Skull & Bones, the pirate adventure soon to be released on PC and consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, will kick off the festivities.
"Some of the games will be priced the same as the competition. The big AAA games will come in at $70," the company's CEO, Yves Guillemot, said in a recent interview.
The Assassin's Creed series will probably be among the titles offered on the market by Ubisoft for $70. It is currently unknown whether the change will occur after Assassin's Creed Mirage with Assassin's Creed Project Red and Hexe.
The publisher's decision is bound to irritate video game fans, but more and more companies are using price increases to offset the development costs of more ambitious projects.
