Mario Kart Tour says goodbye to its gacha mechanic!

Nintendo is adding a Battle mode to the mobile game

Following a ferocious legislative battle against gambling and gacha, many games have recently abandoned their loot box model in favor of a more sustainable business model.

It's time for Mario Kart Tour to ditch the gacha mechanics that have been heavily criticized since its release. Indeed, until now, to unlock new characters and karts, you had to purchase random draws that allowed you to choose a character completely at random from those available, with the most powerful characters being the rarest, with very low percentages of chances of obtaining them.

Everything will change from October 5, 2022. Indeed, on the news page in the application, a message appeared this morning detailing the upcoming update.

From that point forward, the pipes will be replaced by a daily store with a rotating selection of characters and karts to be bought with gems earned through the game's various missions and seasonal challenges.

As a result, the game should be available in countries that have banned it due to the presence of loot boxes, such as Belgium, which has forbidden loot box games since 2018.

This is not the only good news, as the famous battle mode, in which you must burst your opponents' balloons, will be available in both single-player modes against bots and online multiplayer. Each player has balloons attached to their kart, and the goal is to pop the balloons of their opponents.
