Skunkape Games, a small independent team comprised of Telltale's Sam & Max game developers, is finishing up the PlayStation versions of Sam & Max Save the World and Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space. Both games will be available for purchase on the PlayStation Store on September 29.
Sam & Max Save the World (also known as Season 1) will be available for the first time on PlayStation. Telltale Games' first major project. The series was released in chapters on PC in 2006.
When Telltale later expanded to consoles, Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space (Season 2) was ported to PlayStation 3, but the first season was never released on the platform - until now.
Sam and Max are self-proclaimed freelance cops. A dog and rabbit crime-fighting duo. Sam is a six-foot-tall dog in a suit with a strong sense of justice. Max is a hyperkinetic lagomorph with no internal filter and a voracious appetite for chaos. They save the world in the most bizarre and idiotic ways.
In Sam & Max: Save the World, a mind control scheme involving neglected child stars spills over into the media, the mafia, the U.S. government, and the Internet.
Meanwhile, in Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space, our heroes must contend with Santa Claus, the Bermuda Triangle, an emotional vampire, a trio of time travelers, and Satan himself. But you'll never guess who's really in charge.
Skunkape's remasters improve Sam and Max's episodic adventures with higher-resolution graphics, dynamic lighting, improved lip sync, remastered sound, and a slew of aesthetic and quality-of-life tweaks that make these classic games look and feel beautiful and fluid on PS4 and PS5.
