Fortnite offers many ways for players to play and interact with others, and it's not a surprise considering the crushing popularity of this Battle Royale. That’s why a new rumour has suggested that the game seems to be interested in using virtual reality devices very soon.
This week, Epic Games' free-to-play hit Battle Royale received update 21.50, which introduced a ton of new features such as the return of the Late Game Arena, the 60-player competitive experience and many cosmetic items for you to buy.
As we are used to now with every update, a group of dataminers and leakers have already set to work to find all the hidden material that this new patch may have and well… They never disappoint.
VR coming officially to Fortnite?
Earlier today, our favourite and reliable Fortnite dataminer HYPEX, revealed that in the latest patch 21.50 files it is possible to find elements that refer to Oculus virtual reality devices. The leaker theorizes that the free-to-play is likely to receive native VR support in the future.

Epic Games has not yet responded to these reports, so we will have to wait until the alleged virtual reality support comes to the game in Season 4 or in a later instance. Actually, this is not the first time a similar report has “leaked”, back in 2020 dataminers also found out that Epic Games added VR-Support for HTC Vive, Oculus Go, Oculus Touch & Valve Index devices; on the other hand, back in mid-June this year, another leak indicated that the company was allegedly working on a first-person mode for Fortnite.
Naturally, the community is already speculating that the first-person mode will debut accompanied by support for virtual reality devices. While it's a good guess there is always the possibility that VR functionalities will arrive much later. As always, remember to take this information with a grain of salt and wait until official details emerge as it doesn’t matter how reliable a source is, company decisions can always change unexpectedly.
